VIRTUAL FEBRUARY GENERAL MEETING
Tuesday, February 9th at 9:30 am
Our next Zoom membership meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9th at 9:30 am. Our Community Speaker will be Pastor Morris Fleischer who will speak to us about Donna's Backpacks. Modeled after the highly successful Micah’s Backpack Program in Montgomery County, Donna’s Backpacks in Giles County was initiated in February, 2011, to provide food for elementary and middle school students who may have little or no food at home. Our Featured Speaker will be Krisha Chachra. Krisha is currently a board member of Radford University and is a community relations connector, communications coach and global travel columnist. Krisha's topic title is, “Connecting With Your Community; A Local Leader Perspective.” She will talk about Radford University, highlight local volunteer programs and discuss her personal perspective regarding the future of the NRV.
All membership meetings are free and open to the public. We will email the Zoom link to members. If you are NOT a current member, please email email@example.com
and we will send you the link to attend the meeting.

Making Friends and Becoming Part of a Community
Since the 1960s, people who have made the New River Valley their home have found the transition made easier by joining the Blacksburg Newcomers' Club. We welcome residents of any age, gender, nationality, race, or religion.
Club members meet monthly for a general meeting, which includes social time and a fun, informative program. Members participate in smaller interest group activities such as wine tasting, supper circles, book clubs and more.
As a member, you will receive a monthly newsletter that includes general meeting, activities, and Interest Group information. This information can also be found on this website.
Each monthly meeting features a speaker from a local Community Service Organization and members may bring needed items as well. We have participated in a "Reverse Advent" challenge to support the food pantry, our book clubs have collected books for the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program's Christmas Store, we have held a silent auction to benefit Micah's Closet and we make an annual year-end donation to a local charity. You can find links to organizations we have supported here.
Our Interest Groups offer opportunities to meet others and share hobbies and leisure activities. Interest Groups include: Book Clubs, Girls Night Out, Lunch Bunch, Evening Movie Group, Circle Supper Club, Wine Tasting, Brunch Group, Papercrafting, Needleworks, Wednesday Walkers and Gadabouts! If you don't see a group with your interests, we'll help you get one started.
Social events are also planned in the evenings for all members and their partners. Past events have included Chili Cook Offs, Mix n' Mingles, Holiday Brunch, Kentucky Derby socials, and Year End May Socials.
